Even from a young age I was interested in technology. In 1993, I started interacting with my first personal computer
In India, I was the only student in my class to have a personal computer at home. This made me very interested in trying to learn different things on the machine
I remember using 5 and ¼ in floppy disks and loading software turtle from it
Fast forward a few years, I was exposed to a whole different setup of machines in the United States. I was always curious about taking the tools that were available to me and pushing them to their limits to create what I wanted
I once simulated a DVR, back before there were actual DVRs, to be able to skip commercials. I was not a fan of watching commercials and to skip them, I would record shows from our TV onto a re-writable DVD and import the show onto my laptop. I would then use a sofrware to remove the commercials and enjoy the show from start to finish without any commercials. Of course, this process actually took longer than to just watch the commercials, but it was more satisfying knowing that I was able to achieve what I set out to do.
My bachelors degree is from University of Illinois at Chicago in Computer Science. During my last semester I took a database class, which held my interest very well
After college I got the opportunity to work in the business intelligence field and with my knowledge from programming and curiosity about databases, it seemed like the perfect fit.
The mix of business and technical challenges keeps me glued to the field.
